Swindon United was born after a group of around 30 Harbour Project visitors who played football wanted to form a team.
Swindon City of Sanctuary’s Rob Yates took on this challenge, helping to referee and organise the matches. The Harbour Project continue to pay for the pitch hire at St Joseph’s College.

After liaising with the FA, professional coach Albano Abrantes came on board in June 2017, leading the team to their first win again Leicester City of Sanctuary in July! The transport to Leicester was kindly funded by local business supporter Helen Browning’s Organic.

They have also visited Swindon Town Football Club and played in the KanduKicks tournament.

On Thursday the 5th of October 2017, the team were invited to watch the England vs. Slovenia game at Wembley Stadium courtesy of the FA. An article covering the FA scheme and another football team’s experience can be read here
