Last week a group of local and national volunteers and sanctuary seekers took We’re Open on tour to WOMAD. It wasn’t quite Earth, Wind & Fire… we had sun (a fair bit), rain (a fair bit more!) and gales (a lot), but we still received a warm welcome! We focused on the simple acts we can all undertake to support sanctuary seekers and of course were inspired by brilliant music from all around the world.
In the words of one sanctuary seeker, ‘This place is out of this world. I never want to leave!’ It would be wonderful if other sanctuary seekers across the country could have the opportunity to visit WOMAD next year.
Looking ahead, there are plans to bring Swindon groups together for a peace picnic later in September (peacenikers anyone?). If you’d like to get involved, please get in touch with Annie.
Also in September, we’re offering another training session for new and potential volunteers – explaining more about our Room for All hosting scheme and how you could potentially help as a host or mentor. No commitment required at this stage. You can register your interest with Nat here.
